This year’s National Coffee Championships that took place during 7th HORECA, the leading fair targeting foodservice companies, were ravishing and more interesting than ever, since Greece won the prize of “Best Nation 2011” at the World Coffee Championships in Maastricht last June.

Therefore in a specially designed area inside Hall 1, that was formed according to SCAE rules and the European standards, dozens of coffee professionals attended the competitions with passion and high level skills for the nomination of those who will represent our country at the respective International Championships that will take place in Vienna, 12-15 June 2012. Numerous were the spectators who filled the competition area for four days, giving an outstanding pulse to the full of surprises competitions.

  • The first positions at the 5th Cezve/Ibrik Competition and at the 6th Coffee In Good Spirits Competition were both won by Mr. Stavros Lamprinidis, having prepared coffee with traditional Greek ibrik but also original signature coffee beverages.

  • The unprecedented participation of baristas in the 4th Cupping Competition led to a final round full of suspense, with Mr. Tassos Moshopoulos becoming the National Champion.

  • The 6th Greek Latte Art Competition stood out thanks to the participant’s passion and their high skills. However this year’s championship had a... woman’s touch, Tina’s (Tania) Konstadinova, who won the first place.

  • Last year’s World Latte Art Champion, Mr. Chris Loukakis, came first in the Brewer’s Cup Competition that attracted many professionals.

  • The title of “Barista Champion” for 2012 won once again Mr. Stefanos Domatiotis (this was the fifth time!) who received the prize clearly excited and will represent our country at the International competition also in Vienna.
